Jeffrey D'Andrea, DO  
Jeffrey D'Andrea, DO, is the director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at The Heart and Vascular Institute at Wilkes-Barre Genearl Hospital. A graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and the University of Scranton, Dr. D'Andrea earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an internship and a residency in internal medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. D'Andrea was awarded a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Hahnemann University Hospital, as well. He is board-certified by the Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and by the National American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. D'Andrea belongs to numerous professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

A graduate of the University of Scranton, David Dalessandro, MD, earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University Medical School, Philadelphia. He also completed his internship in internal medicine and a cardiology fellowship at Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. An accomplished author, Dr. Dalessandro is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Dalessandro is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians.

Upon graduation from Cotton College, Assam, India, Nirode Das, MD, received his medical degree from Assam Medical College, Assam, where he also completed his internship. Dr. Das completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Victoria Hospital, Blackpool, England. He served a residency in internal medicine at Burnley General Hospital, Burnley, England, and also completed a residency in cardiology at Ottawa Civic Hospital, Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Das completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at St. Christopher's Hospital, Philadelphia.

David Rimple, MD  
David Rimple, MD, is the director of the Vascular Laboratory at The Heart and Vascular Institute at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Rimple served preceptorships in the cardiovascular lab and the cardiac catheterization lab at both the University of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, respectively.

He interned in internal medicine at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and served residencies in internal medicine at Akron General Hospital, Akron, Ohio; cardiology at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pennsylvania; and Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. An experienced educator, Dr. Rimple is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology.

Basil RuDusky, MD  
Basil M. RuDusky, MD, is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. RuDusky interned at Martin Army Hospital, Georgia, and served in the US Army as a Captain of the Medical Corp and Chief Medical Officer of the Armed Forces Examining Service, Wilkes-Barre. He performed his residencies in internal medicine at Youngstown Hospital Association, Youngstown, Ohio; and internal medicine and cardiology at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. RuDusky was a senior research fellow in cardiology at the National Heart Institute, Temple University Hospital.

An accomplished researcher, author and lecturer, Dr. RuDusky is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Board of Forensic Examiners, the Association of Military Surgeons of the US, the American and Pennsylvania Societies of Internal Medicine, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and Luzerne County Medical Society, among others. He is a founding member of the Philadelphia Academy of Cardiology.

Thomas Turissini, MD, is the director of the Coronary Care Unit at The Heart and Vascular Institue at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He graduated from the University of Scranton and received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University Medical School, Philadelphia. Dr. Turissini completed an internship at the Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia, and a residency in radiology at the University of California. He also completed a medical residency and cardiology fellowship at Graduate Hospital. Board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Turissini is a member of the American College of Physicians. He is also an Associate of the American College of Cardiology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Richard Abramowitz, MD  
Richard P. Abramowitz, MD, received his medical degree from the Thomas Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. He completed an internship and residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati, and completed a fellowship in cardiology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. Abramowitz is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention.

He is also a member of the American Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

Javid Amini, MD  
Javid Amini, MD is a graduate of the Kabul University Medical School in Kabul, Afghanistan. He performed an Internship at Catholic Medical Centers in Brooklyn/Queens, NY where he also completed a residency and performed a fellowship. Dr. Amini also performed fellowships at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY and at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Amini is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Amini has published multiple papers in medical journals on such topics as syncope and heart rate variability.


Mark Bernardi, DO  
Mark Bernardi, DO, is the medical director of The Heart and Vascular Institute at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where he also serves as director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.

A graduate of the University of Scranton, Dr. Bernardi earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia where he was Valedictorian. He performed a rotating internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark and Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Stratford, New Jersey.

Dr. Bernardi completed a residency in internal medicine at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, and performed fellowships in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he served as Chief Fellow. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology.

An accomplished author of numerous articles on the topic of interventional cardiology, Dr. Bernardi is the primary investigator of clinical research trials at The Heart and Vascular Institute, and serves as a clinical faculty member at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians and American College of Physicians, as well as a member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association and the Luzerne County Medical Society, among others.

Joseph Briskie, DO, is the director of the EKG/Stress Laboratory at The Heart and Vascular Institute at Wilkes-Barre General Hosptial. A graduate of Wilkes University, Dr. Briskie earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Missouri and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Atlantic City Medical Center, Atlantic City. Dr. Briskie also completed a cardiology fellowship at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills, New Jersey. He is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology. An accomplished lecturer, researcher and author, Dr. Briskie is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Osteopathic Association, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, American Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

As the Chief, Section of Cardiology, John H. Ellis, IV, MD, graduated with distinction in medicine from Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, and Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre. Dr. Ellis served an internship at York Hospital, York, Pennsylvania, in pediatrics, surgery and emergency medicine, remaining as a resident. Bradley Fenster, MD, PhD  
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Bradley D. Fenster, MD, PhD earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine where he also earned a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center and performed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.

Robert Potorski, MD, graduated from Wilkes University and earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Este, San Pedro de Marcoris, Dominican Republic. After completing a fellowship in cardiology at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills, New Jersey, Dr. Potorski performed a residency in internal medicine at the Northeast Pennsylvania Affiliated Hospital Residency Program, and a clinical clerkship at the Community Medical Center, Scranton.

He served an internship and residency in general surgery at Geisinger Medical Center and in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at The Ohio State University's Medical Center, Columbus. Juan DeRojas, MD  
A veteran of the War Against Terrorism and the Gulf War, Juan DeRojas, MD, is a graduate of LaSalle College and Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia. Dr. DeRojas completed a residency at Temple University Hospital, where he also completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery. A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. DeRojas has an extensive military service record, including serving in Operation Desert Storm as a surgeon in the US Army Medical Corp and as Chief Surgeon/Lt. Colonel in the Advanced Trauma Life Support of the US Army Medical Corp. during Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a member of the Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Peripheral Vascular Society, the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, the American Society of General Surgeons, among others.

Brian Marien, MD  
Brain J. Marien, MD, RVT, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY-AB). He graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY-AB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Marien completed his general surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, New Jersey. He also completed a critical care fellowship at SUNY-AB, and vascular fellowship at Boston University. He also has additional training in bariatric surgery and is a registered vascular technologist.

Chester C. Yavorski, MD, a graduate of the University of Scranton and Georgetown University School of Medicine, served his residency in general surgery at the Navy Medical Center, San Diego. He completed a clinical fellowship and research fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington. A board-certified vascular surgeon, Dr. Yavorski is an active member in the Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery, the International Society of Endovascular Surgery, the American Medical Association and the Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery.
