| Prevention: | Preventive measure include following safer sex behaviors; following the health care provider's recommendations after gynecological events or procedures; and getting prompt treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Sexual partners should also get adequate treatment. (See "Prevention" under gonorrhea).
