EARLY PREGNANCY CLASS
Wyoming Valley Health Care System offers an Early Pregnancy Class designed for women who are less than 20 weeks pregnant. This class is a 2 to 3 hour session and includes discussion regarding normal body changes, fetal growth, good nutrition and exercises you can perform during your pregnancy. Ways to eliminate everyday discomforts of pregnancy and danger signs will also be discussed.

Allow our certified childbirth educators and experienced professionals of the Nesbitt Women's and Children's Center to answer your pregnancy-related questions.

SIBLING CLASS
This class is designed to promote family bonding and decrease anxiety siblings may feel with the arrival of a newborn. Children will learn how to properly hold a newborn and will receive a tour of the Obstetric Suite. A parent must accompany his/her child at all times.

Recommended ages: 3 and up.

PRENATAL FITNESS CLASS
This class is designed for pregnant women who want to tone and strengthen those muscles used during delivery. You will learn how to relax during labor and birth, how to increase your energy levels and become more aware of your body. You may begin attending this class early in your pregnancy and continue until your delivery. Permission from your physician must be obtained prior to beginning the class.

Classes will be divided into 8-week series, costing $40 per series. For your safety, each series will be limited to 10 participants.

Wear comfortable clothing. Healthy snacks will be provided.

CHILDBIRTH REFRESHER CLASS
A Sunday afternoon review session featuring an overview of labor and delivery, breathing and relaxation techniques. This class includes changes in care that may have occurred since your previous birth. Information on vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC) will be provided 1/2 hour prior to the start of class.

Please bring a blanket and a pillow.

Available to women and their support persons who have had previous birth experience and/or attended childbirth education classes.

CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CLASS
The Childbirth Education series is designed for mothers and their support person(s). Topics include: an overview of labor and birth, C-secton information, pain relief methods, newborn care and more. An optional class on breastfeeding will be offered.

Several series are available throughout the year on either Sundays, Mondays or Wednesdays. See below for the schedule of classes.

Women should attend by 30 - 34 weeks of pregnancy in order to ensure that the series can be completed.

Time:  Sunday classes are from 1-4pm and Monday and Wednesday classes are from 7-9pm.

BREASTFEEDING BASICS
This one evening class is designed to promote breastfeeding as a vital component of your childbirth experience. An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and certified breatfeeding counselors will be on hand to review the basics of breastfeeding and answer any questions you may have. Support persons are encouraged to attend.

POSTNATAL FITNESS CLASS
The six-week postnatal classes are held once a week and are designed for new mothers who gave birth at least six weeks ago. The classes are designed to increase energy and stamina and also tone and strengthen muscle.

Classes are conducted by certified postnatal fitness exercise instructors.
